The Tyrol Women Cycling Team looks back on an intense and highly educational few days at this year’s Gracia Orlová stage race in the Czech Republic. The traditional event took place from Thursday to Sunday and challenged riders and teams alike with a total of five demanding stages.
The race kicked off on Thursday with a familiar start, as the opening stage followed the same route as last year. However, it quickly became clear that this year’s race would once again be highly hectic. A fast pace in the peloton combined with constant battles for position made for a nervous and demanding race situation right from the beginning.
Friday introduced a new element to the course with a challenging second stage featuring a mountain finish. This stage pushed the riders to their limits and created the first significant gaps in the general classification. The Tirol Women Cycling Team showed strong determination and presented itself as a cohesive unit within the peloton.
Saturday featured the traditional double stage. In the morning, riders competed in an individual time trial, racing against the clock. In the afternoon, a fast and technical city stage in Ostrava followed, characterized by tight corners and high speeds, requiring full concentration from all participants.
The final stage on Sunday was another fast-paced city circuit, once again demanding maximum effort from the riders and leaving little room for recovery.
Overall, the race was marked by numerous crashes. Several stages had to be neutralized and restarted, highlighting the challenging and unpredictable conditions. Unfortunately, the Tirol Women Cycling Team was also affected, with several riders involved in crashes. Fortunately, all riders were able to finish the race, demonstrating great resilience and determination.
Despite these difficulties, the team delivered a strong collective performance. The riders repeatedly positioned themselves at the front of the peloton, supported each other, and showed excellent team spirit throughout the race. Their efforts paid off with a very solid result: Tabea Huys secured 10th place in the overall classification.
The team is very satisfied with this performance. In particular, the high level of motivation among all riders and their aggressive, proactive racing style stood out in a highly competitive UCI event. The experience gained at this level is invaluable for the remainder of the season.
With renewed confidence and valuable race experience, the Tirol Women Cycling Team is already looking ahead. Next week, the team will take on further stage races in Italy, ready to build on this positive momentum and continue their strong development.
