The National Championship week was a great success for the Tirol Women Cycling Team. In total, nine riders represented the team across five nations, competing in eight championship races in both the individual time trial and the road race disciplines.

Austrian National Championships

Representing Tirol Women Cycling were Franziska Ehrenreich, Ramona Griesser, Belinda Holzer, Tabea Huys, and Jennifer Pesendorfer.

Individual Time Trial (ITT)

On 27 June 2026, the Austrian National Individual Time Trial Championships took place. Despite suffering a mechanical problem during her race, Tabea Huys delivered an impressive performance to finish 3rd in the Elite category. She also claimed the Austrian U23 National Championship title, while Ramona Griesser finished 3rd in the U23 category.

Road Race

The Austrian National Road Race was held in Schwanenstadt, Upper Austria. After several laps on a shorter circuit, the riders completed four longer finishing laps. With average temperatures reaching 38°C, careful preparation and continuous feeding throughout the race were essential. Having already raced in extremely hot conditions over the previous weeks proved to be valuable preparation for our riders.

During the second of the longer laps, two professional riders broke away and were never caught, leaving the remaining peloton to sprint for the next positions. Tabea Huys, Belinda Holzer, and Franziska Ehrenreich finished in an impressive 8th, 9th, and 10th place, respectively.

Luxembourg National Championships

Liv Wenzel represented the team at the Luxembourg National Championships.

On 25 June, Liv claimed the Luxembourg U23 National Individual Time Trial title, becoming the national champion in her category.

In the road race held in Mamer, the race was neutralized for a period, causing Liv to lose valuable time. Despite this setback, she fought back to finish 3rd overall in the Elite category.

British National Championships

At the British National Championships, Amalie Cooper delivered a strong performance. She was able to stay with the leading professional riders, including eventual winner Zoe Bäckstedt, until the penultimate lap. Unfortunately, severe cramps affected her in the closing stages, but she fought through to finish in 25th place.

Czech National Championships

Nela Kankovska competed in the Czech National Individual Time Trial Championships on 25 June, finishing a solid 7th in the Elite category. Unfortunately, she was unable to finish the road race.

Italian National Championships

Linda Sanarini competed in the Italian National Road Championships on 28 June. On a demanding course and in extremely hot conditions, she was unfortunately unable to finish the race.

Looking Ahead

Following a successful week of National Championships, the team's focus now turns to the Luxembourg U23 National Championships, taking place on 3 July in Weiswampach. Liv Wenzel, Ramona Griesser, and Tabea Huys will represent Tirol Women Cycling.

The team looks back on a highly successful championship week with pride. We are especially delighted to now have three National Champions within our squad:

  • 🥇 Belinda Holzer – Austrian National Criterium Champion

  • 🥇 Tabea Huys – Austrian U23 National Individual Time Trial Champion

  • 🥇 Liv Wenzel – Luxembourg U23 National Individual Time Trial Champion

The many strong performances and three national titles underline the excellent development of the team and provide great motivation heading into the second half of the season.
