Race Report – Austrian Criterium Championship at the Erlauftal Cycling Days

In outstanding weather conditions, the Austrian Criterium Championship took place as part of the Erlauftal Cycling Days. Bright sunshine, dry roads, and a great crowd created perfect racing conditions on the 940-meter circuit.

The Tirol Women Cycling Team lined up with three highly motivated riders: Belinda Holzer, Franziska Ehrenreich, and Jennifer Pesendorfer. From the very beginning, it was clear that the team intended to play an active role in the race. A total of 24 laps had to be completed, featuring several intermediate sprints where valuable points for the overall classification were awarded.

The race started exactly according to plan. In the very first intermediate sprint, Franziska Ehrenreich made a strong statement by taking maximum points. This early success boosted the team’s confidence and immediately put them in an excellent position.

As the race progressed, Belinda Holzer and Franziska Ehrenreich delivered an impressive performance. With great awareness, tactical intelligence, and consistent presence in key moments, both riders steadily collected more points. Time and again, they positioned themselves perfectly for the sprint laps, extending their lead step by step. The team controlled the race for long periods, leaving little room for their competitors to make an impact.

Jennifer Pesendorfer played an important supporting role, maintaining a high pace and ensuring her teammates were ideally positioned going into the decisive laps. This strong team effort proved to be a key factor in the final success.

Despite their control, the race remained exciting until the very end. Ahead of the final sprint, the battle for the championship title was still open, with several riders within striking distance.

In the decisive final sprint, Belinda Holzer showcased her full strength. With a powerful and perfectly timed effort, she secured an excellent second place in the final sprint. This result delivered the crucial points needed to claim overall victory.

With this outstanding team performance, the Tirol Women Cycling Team celebrated a historic achievement by winning their first Austrian national championship title—made even more special by the perfect conditions of this race day.
